The RFID Solutions Laboratory was invited by the Institute for Entrepreneurship (IfE) to represent PolyU as an exhibitor at the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) and HKTDC International ICT Expo. These events attracted over 90,000 buyers from 150 countries and regions. The large-scale exhibition was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 13 April 2013 to 16 April 2013.

The laboratory demonstrated to the visitors their recent innovative solutions supervised by Dr W.H. Ip, Associate Professor of the ISE Department. For instance, “IoT-based Advanced Automobile Parking Navigation Platform”, an on-going project designed and developed with Sino Parking Services Limited, and “RFID-based Electronic Nursing Management System”, a project in collaboration with Pok Oi Hospital Tuen Mun Nursing Home, successfully attracted the visitors’ attention.

The visitors were impressed and showed their keen interests in the RFID applications exhibited. The laboratory members also enthusiastically explained the solution-related technologies and knowledge to the visitors.

Apart from the abovementioned projects, another exhibit named “Intelligent Parking Environment and Occupancy Monitoring System” was also presented at the exhibit section of the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition). It illustrated parts of the research outcome of the on-going project “IoT-based Advanced Automobile Parking Navigation Platform” to the visitors.

During the exhibition, the exhibitors did not only carry out knowledge transfer, but also met potential collaborative partners among the visitors that can pave the way for more innovative projects to be undertaken at the ISE Department and PolyU in the future.
