The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ISE Department of PolyU, and HARTING Technology Group (HARTING) on 23 November 2012 cemented the relationship among these institutions to collaborate in the research and development of advanced Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies and Internet of Things (IoT).
Witnessed by Dr W.H. Ip (Associate Professor of the ISE Department), and three members of HARTING, the MoU was signed by Mr Philip F.W. Harting (Senior Vice President of HARTING); and Ir Prof. K.C. Chan (Acting Head of the ISE Department), at the PolyU Microsoft Enterprise Systems Centre.
As the head of the RFID Solutions Laboratory, Dr Ip was invited by HARTING to provide consultancy for their staff to execute the signed MoU. A two-day workshop on RFID technologies with applications was scheduled from 26 July 2013 to 27 July 2013 in Zhuhai, China, where Dr Ip and the laboratory members shared RFID-related knowledge to the staff.
The signing of MoU has provided further collaboration on technology transfer, research and development activities on RFID technologies, and IoT applications for the two parties.
