The ISE Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shenzhen University, Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (CSAA) and the Hong Kong Aviation Industry Association (HKAIA) at the Microsoft Enterprise Systems Centre on 16 September 2013. Following the signing ceremony, the Fifth Chinese Information Fusion Conference organized by the Information Fusion Chapter of CSAA and co-organized by the ISE Department and Shenzhen University was opened at the centre.
Witnessed by Prof. H.C. Man (Chair Professor of Materials Engineering and Dean of Engineering), Dr W.H. Ip (Associate Professor of ISE), and various representatives from the parties, the MoU was signed by Prof. J.J. Huang (Vice Head of College, College of Information Engineering, Shenzhen University), Prof. K.C. Chan (Acting Head of the ISE Department), Prof. G.H. Wang (Vice Head of Chapter, Information Fusion Chapter, CSAA), and Dr H.W. Cheung (President of HKAIA). The MoU signing symbolizes the future collaboration opportunities between the four parties, including research and development activities for the Hong Kong market on innovative and advanced aviation information technologies and air transportation systems.
Dr H.W. Cheung was invited to deliver a seminar on future aviation development at the Fifth Chinese Information Fusion Conference. Dr Cheung shared the forecasting and development trends of the aviation industry, discussed the opportunities and challenges of future aviation development, and provided possible solutions to achieve a stable development of the industry.
Towards the end of the seminar, an announcement was made on the appointment of Dr Ip as a committee member of the Information Fusion Chapter, CSAA. The future collaboration and frequent communication between the four parties would definitely pave the way for the sustainable development of the aviation industry.
